Bouts, Events, and Promotions History
Shore Points Roller Derby was founded in 2007 thanks to the hard work of Little F’er, Crasht’on, and Hell Kat Thrasher. Practices were held in an outdoor rink throughout the winter of 2006 and were coached by Wolfgang Von Stomp of the New York Shock Exchange. Eventually the group made Rollway Skating Rink in Hammonton, NJ their home, and the team established their first set of bylaws and board members in March 2007.
The Boardwalk Brawlers’ debut bout was held on July 13, 2008 at Good Sports in Wall, NJ. The double header featured SPRD's Boardwalk Brawlers vs Sisters of Mayhem (Hackettstown, NJ) and the New York Shock Exchange (NY) vs Diamond City Death Kings (PA). From there, SPRD continued to accept skaters and play bouts, both home and away. What started as only 3 skaters skating outdoors in the winter has become a group of dedicated women with a consistent indoor practice space and determination to grow beyond what we have established so far. We play full seasons, averaging one home or away bout each month from March to November, and host fundraising events to benefit our team as well as contribute to fundraising efforts of other organizations.
We are proud to be the original roller derby league at the South Jersey shore. Since Shore Points Roller Derby’s humble beginnings in 2007, the league has grown to over 50 members, comprised of strong individuals who share a goal of physical strength and emotional growth through the sport of roller derby. We have achieved a lot in the past 7 years, including gaining WFTDA membership, and expanding to include two in-house teams - the High Rollers and the Maidens of Mayhem - in addition to our All-Stars (WFTDA charter team), and the Boardwalk Brawlers (JV level pick-up team).
