From the article: "The sport is fast, physically exhausting and requires thinking about strategy in the middle of it all, but St. Marie, of Buena Vista Township, said those challenges are exactly why she keeps coming back to the rink for more.
“The biggest thing that’s kept me here so long is playing offense and defense at the same time,” she said. “You’re constantly switching directions within a matter of 40 feet on the track, within seconds. And by the time you think about what needs to happen, you’re already doing it. I love the intensity of it.” "
For those of you who associate the word “draft: with beers, first of all: Fair, second of all: Beer. However, this draft night was about fresh meats and tenderizeds and their ascension into fully fledged team-mates.
We all showed up at four thirty that day. Folk brought food and drink in part because IT IS A PARTY, and in part because if you don’t BRING food, you don’t EAT food. Then, after a brief hustle to find scraping instruments, we settled in for the planned activity of the day. And it waaaaaaaaaaasssss
Scraping up tape
Some of us had pretty terrible tools for the job, but that stopped NOBODY. This was one of those times where you’re looking at your whole four inches of handiwork thinking, “THIS WILL NEVER GET DONE,” then you look up, see your team all around you, hacking away at tape, and realize, “Huh. We’ll get this done together. Then we will party. All is right with the world.”
The main event...
We were ushered onto the rink and ordered to stand in a line and close our eyes...
Shore Points Roller Derby poured a diverse range of brews for the audiences to two of the performance stages at Mount Holly’s music festival, Hollystock, on Saturday, August 8th 2015. The Atlantic Coast Roller Girls, who merged with SPRD earlier this year, worked hard serving beer at this same event over previous years and passed the torch to the Shore Points Roller Derby league.
The purpose of this event was to boost the economy local to Mount Holly by promoting its business-based community and by bringing attention to the town’s participation with merchants both far and near to the city. The event offered a family-friendly atmosphere for music appreciation and local artist exposure while also supporting charity causes such as VH1 Save The Music Foundation (check out http://www.vh1savethemusic.org/ to support them too!).The real kicker for the festival was the fact that entrance to the event was 100% free, money only necessary for food, merchandise, and beverages (beer included, yum...

This year's featured some ECDX and Shore Points classic, including Waffles vs Pancakes, Bakers vs Crafters, and City vs Shore. It was a hot day in Hammonton, so we cooled down after practice with a water balloon fight!
Check out the results of each challenge scrimmage in the photos. Click "read more" to view all the results!

We've debuted on the WFTDA rankings for the first time! Shore Points Roller Derby is currently #201 in the world. Congratulations to our All-Stars on the blood, sweat, and bruises they put into leaving it all on the track in order to earn this rank!
A lot of hard work has gone into this milestone, on and OFF the track. We want to extend our thanks to every volunteer, official, friend, family member, and fan who has been there to support us and help us reach our goals. Thank you to the leadership, coaches, captains, and skaters for your dedication to the sport.
There have been many members of Shore Points throughout the years since our founding in 2007 - and every single member's hard work has lead to this moment. Let's take a moment to congratulate everyone involved on a job well done.
And now - onward and upward! Next stop: Dvision 2!
